Privacy Policy — VaporChart

Overview

VaporChart is designed with privacy as a core principle. All patient data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Data Collection

VaporChart does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or protected health information (PHI) to external servers. Specifically:

Patient data — All case records, vital signs, medications, and clinical documentation are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it.
Photos — Photos taken of patient monitors are processed for vital sign extraction. Photos may be sent to a cloud-based AI service for processing. No patient-identifying information is included with these photos. You can delete photos from the app at any time.
Analytics — VaporChart does not include any analytics, tracking, or crash reporting frameworks.
Account data — VaporChart does not require an account. No registration, login, or personal information is collected.

Camera and Photo Library

VaporChart requests access to your device camera and photo library solely for the purpose of capturing images of patient monitors for vital sign extraction. These images are stored locally and are only transmitted for AI processing when you initiate a vitals extraction.

Data Security

Data stored on your device is protected by your device's built-in security features, including device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. We recommend enabling a device passcode to protect patient data.

HIPAA Compliance

VaporChart is a clinical documentation aid. You are responsible for ensuring your use of VaporChart complies with HIPAA and your institution's policies regarding protected health information. VaporChart stores all PHI locally on your device and does not act as a business associate under HIPAA.

Data Deletion

You can delete individual cases or all data from within the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.

Third-Party Services

VaporChart uses a cloud AI service for vital sign extraction from monitor photographs. When you capture vitals, cropped images of the monitor screen are sent for processing. These images do not contain patient-identifying information. No other third-party services are used.

Children's Privacy

VaporChart is intended for use by licensed healthcare providers and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
